Panorama Project

This is a panorama project in which we chose two antonyms for the first and last panel, and had to transition them throughout the other four boards.
Above are my first few preliminary sketches. I began with the antonyms "urban" to "rural" but I chose to simplify the sketch in the end.

Then I chose elements from my first sketches and combined them to create my final sketch (though I did edit the first board)

This is the final design, 8"x8" on illustration board, painted with acrylic paints.

Four Studies

For this assignment, I created four studies: realism, non-objective pattern, abstract texture, and mixed media.
The image above is representative of a lampshade I found while I was thrift-shopping

This pattern is inspired by the brain exhibit at the Franklin Museum, and was created by using the bottom of a rubber cement container.

This is my visual texture which is meant to represent bubbles. I created this by making the background and then hot-gluing coctail straws to the ground to imitate the bubbles when looking at it at eye-level.

This is my mixed media, I used black and white paint, a stamp, the end of a paintbrush (to create dimension/line) and ink to illustrate the sides of the piece where the glaze didn't reach.

Self-Portrait

By using a radial grid, I attempted to create an accurate self-portrait using grayscale and a triangular stamp made from an eraser

This is the final product, I mainly struggled with maintaining the radial grid- even though I sanded and re-stamped the face, the result is still muddled.

Assignment 3

I used one design, repeated to make a tile and then repeated that to create a pattern. I aimed to achieve an asymmetrical pattern with directional movement

After having to re-adjust the "x" shaped colors, this is the final product.

Skull Process

I began using textures from previous texture posts, and formatted them onto an outline of a skull

I tried to exemplify directional movement and show the curves of the skull

Notan Project

I used one 3x3 notan and formatted it into a 2x2 and 1x1, and rotated them accordingly to create a focal point as well as directional movement

The final product: to have a figure-ground relationship as well as a focal point and directional movement
